Fabric Guides and Care Instructions
Keep Your Wardrobe Looking Fresh and Lasting Longer
Understanding how to care for different fabrics is essential to maintaining a high-quality wardrobe. Proper care preserves the color, texture, and shape of your clothes — especially custom pieces made from premium materials.
Know your fabrics. Wool, cotton, linen, silk, and synthetics each have unique properties:
- Wool: Durable and naturally wrinkle-resistant, but can shrink if washed improperly. Dry cleaning is often best.
- Cotton: Breathable and easy to wash, but prone to shrinking in hot water.
- Linen: Lightweight and perfect for summer, but wrinkles easily and requires gentle handling.
- Silk: Delicate and luxurious, silk needs special care — usually hand washing or dry cleaning.
- Synthetics (polyester, nylon): Generally durable and low maintenance but can hold odors if not washed properly.
Washing tips: Always check the care label. Use cold water to prevent shrinkage and color fading. Avoid harsh detergents; opt for gentle, fabric-specific detergents instead.
Drying: Air drying is best, especially for delicate fabrics like wool and silk. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. For cotton, a tumble dryer can be used with care, but air drying will prolong garment life.
Ironing and steaming: Use the appropriate heat setting for the fabric. Steamers are great for removing wrinkles without direct contact, which is gentler on fabrics.
Storage: Hang suits and jackets on broad, padded hangers to maintain shape. Store clothes in breathable garment bags, especially for long-term storage, to avoid dust and moth damage.
By mastering fabric care, you can ensure your wardrobe remains fresh, vibrant, and ready to impress for years.
